The St Dominic/St Augustine Catholic Cemetery Inventory lists a John G WIBBERG, died 28 Oct 1858, and buried in the 'Old' section. He was the first burial in this cemetery. His parents are listed as Johannes and Elisabeth (KILUESENES) WIBBERG. John G is listed in the St. Dominic Church Death Records, in fact he is the very first record on the very first page of the book. He was listed as 'about 3 years old'.
Our family history suggests several different spellings for the John G's surname and the surnames of his parents. As a great-great-grandson of John (Johannes) and Elizabeth, my research suggests the correct family name was WIEBERG. Our family history also has Elizabeth's maiden name as KLASSNER or CLIEZNER.
By 1860, John and Elizabeth had moved to Ste Genevieve County, Missouri. John and Elizabeth are buried at Memorial Cemetery (the old cemetery) in downtown Ste Genevieve.
John's surname was also spelled WEBERG in 1876. My grandfather spelled it WENBERY, another brother spelled it WEBERRY, another WEBERY, and the latest cousin I've found spelled it WEINBERY. All agreed they were brothers, just not how to spell the surname. They ALL pronounced it, We-berry.
Anton, a son of John and Elizabeth, eventually returned to Clinton county where he died and is buried in St George's Cemetery in New Baden. He was also a civil war veteran. His name was spelled WIEBERG.
