I just found the last will and testament for Bena/Bina Hestin of New Baden. Bena the wife of Wendelin Hestin. Will dated 1906. In her will, Bena leaves to her husband Wendelin "the large house and 3 lots near brickyard situated on Spaeths addition to New Baden". Can anyone help me further identify where this property would have been?
Thank you, Julie Caton Spencer

Julie, can't tell you exact location but the Spaeths addition is Birch Street on the north, Clinton Street on the west, First Street on east, and the alley just north of Rt 50 on the south.

I am searching for information about Thomas David Cooper, b. abt. 1823. I came across a grave description in Jamestown Cemetery of a Thomas Cooper. This is the first record we've found in over 20 yrs.(if it is the correct Thomas Cooper)! Can anyone help me with this? There is no photo on FindaGrave, just a description: Birth and Death dates.
He was married to Mary Jane Crocker and he was a music teacher.
Thank you!

Were Washington Co. death certificates before 1916 recorded by the Clinton Co Clerk? I just read this on FamilySearch. I've been unable to find my great grandfather's 1910 death cert at the Washington Co Courthouse and now wonder if it could be found at the Clinton County Courthouse?

No, Washington County would have any records from this time if they exist. Death certificates were not required by law in Illinois until 1916. Some counties have death records prior to this time; however, Washington County would have any records from 1910, not Clinton County.

I'm looking for any old photos of Monkens' Store on Stolletown Road and the old, pre-tornado St. Felicitas Church building on Beaver Prairie. If anyone had pics or knows where I might find some, please contact me. My grandparents, Clem and Lulu Rosen, lived at the corner of Stolletown and Spring Roads until their deaths in the '70s. Thanks.

I am trying to assist my cousin in Germany. Several of his colleagues are writing a book on Emsland. They are looking for old German letters sent from Emsland to America. Would you have any of these letters in the archive or could you direct me to another source.
Thanks, Marilyn
