Last Will and Testament of A. ARENTSEN

In the name of God Amen.

I Arnold Arentsen of the Town of Lookingglass in the County of Clinton and State of Illinois of the age of Seventy-seven years and being of sound mind and memory do make publish and declare this my last will and testament in the manner following that is to say:

First I give and bequeath after my legal debts and my funeral expenses are paid to my son John Henry Arentsen all my personal property.

Second I give and devise to my son John Henry Arentsen his heirs and assigns all that tract or parcel of land situated and being in the County of Clinton and State of Illinois known and described as following to wit: five 5 feets of the north west quarter (1/4) of the north west quarter (1/4) of section twenty four (24) of town one north of range five west this five feets beginning at the east line fifteen nots from the South East corner of said tract running about fifteen nots west in the said tract of land and then runs South to the south line of said tract of land down along to the west on the south line to the south west corner of said piece this land to be used for a ditch. Also the north East quarter (1/4) of the North west quarter (1/4) and the north west 1/4 of the north East quarter (1/4) of section twenty four (24) town. One 1 north of range five (5) west and the west one third (1/3) of the south East quarter (1/4) of the south west quarter (1/4) of section thirty-one (31) in town One (1) north of Range four (4) west of the third principal Meridian containing ninty seven (97) acres more or less together with all the hereditamints and Appurtenances there unto belonging or in anywise appertaining to have and to hold the premises above described to the John Henry Arentsen his heirs and assigns forever.

And Lastly.. I give to my son John Henry Arentsen all the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate goods and Chattels of what nature or kind soever whom I hereby appoint sole Executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking all former wills by me made. In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twenty-first day of November in the year one thousand Eight-hundred and Eighty-three 1883.

The above instrument consisting of one sheet when at the date thereof signed sealed Published and declared by the said Arnold Arentsen as his last will and testament in presence of us who at his request and in his presence and in the presence of each other have subscribed our names as witnesses thereto.

Personally appeared in open Court Albert Ripperda and Andreas Tonsen subscribing witnesses to the annexed instrument of writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of A. Arentsen late of said County deceased who being duly sworn according to law do depose and say each for himself that they were present and saw the said A. Arentsen sign said Will in their presence and that they believe that the said testator was of sound mind and memory, of lawful age, and under no constraint when he signed said Will.
