Surnames: KIRCHER FIX HIX FRY
Submitter: Tommy Kircher (tomkircher@sbcglobal.net)
Date: 07 Jun 2002

Hello, My great great grandfather, Frederick KIRCHER, according to some in the family, came from Wuerttemberg Germany around 1845. A few years later he apparently was in Illinois (some feel this may havebeen in Whiteside County.) I did find some data there on a Frederick KIRCHER, but that Frederick married a Louisa FRY. At some point he married a Louisa FIX or HIX. Some say that Louisa too came from Wuremtmberg. Unfortunately both Frederick AND Louisa have been a brick wall. This has been complicated by the fact that I've data on at least four Frederick KIRCHER's from Illinois to Kansas to Mississippi to Pennsylvania. Any help you might provide on the FIX surname would certainly be appreciated. Cordially, Tommy Kircher Fort Worth, Texas

Surnames: BURCH ARDEN BIRCH MITCHELL
Submitter: Arthur J. Burch (aburch@isoc.net)
Date: 05 Mar 2002

Desperately seeking information about our grandfather, Enoch Arden BURCH. According to his Death Certificate, Enoch was born in Carlyle, Clinton Co., IL, on March 11, 1867. Despite several years of intensive research, we've been unable to determine who his parents were. The only sibling we've found is William Allen BURCH, born in Trenton, Clinton Co., IL, on October 4, 1859. I suspect that Enoch's middle name of ARDEN could be a clue, possibly the name of a relative ... does anyone know of a BURCH/ARDEN connection? Other Clinton Co. entries show a Charles M. BURCH, who enlisted into the Civil War in June 1864; also a C. BURCH is buried in the New Baden Cemetery. I wonder if both these entries are the same man? Also wonder if Charles may be related to "my" BURCH ancestors. The 1850 Federal Census for District 18, Clinton Co., IL has a Richard BIRCH, age 38, enumerated. His wife, Sarah, age 33, and son, George, age 2, are included. This BIRCH family is shown to be residing with the family of M.P. MITCHELL, wife Lovinia, and daughters Susanna and Barbara. Does anyone recognize this BIRCH family, or know whether there's any connection to "my" BURCH ancestors? Any information, or clues, greatly appreciated. Arthur J. BURCH

I am looking for information about my Grandparents, Henry J. and Caroline (Buhne) Albers. I know that they lived in Breese, (Clinton County) Illinois. They lived at 214 West Mary Street. They had six children: Edwin, Paul, Walter, Melvin, Victor and Leona. My Grandmother, Caroline, was born in St. Rose, Illinois in 1869. My father was baptised at St. Dominic's Catholic church in Breese in 1897. My father's sponsors were Theodore Albers and Elizabeth Holthaus. Theodore might be my Grandfather's brother. Edwin, my father, married Elsie Koesterer in 1924 at St. Joseph's in Freeburg, IL. My father and mother moved to Detroit, MI in 1925. My Uncles Paul and Walter (Butch) moved to Detroit also. My Aunt Leona became Leona Marchant when whe married and moved to Tifton, GA and lived on a peanut farm. My Uncle Victor was incarcerated in 1930 at the age of 23. He shot the local sherrif. He died in prison. I don't know where, when or who Victor married but know that he had two children. I don't know any of their names. Walter (Butch) Albers moved from Detroit to Port Huron, MI. He also had two children and I don't know their names either. Melvin married Mary Wiggins in 1930. They lived in Belleville. All of my Aunts and Uncles have passed away as well as my mother and father. If any of this info makes any sense to anybody, I would greatly appreciate a response. Thank you, Chuck Albers at mondasa@bignet.net
