Looking for 2 Nichols families: 1) brothers David Allen and Fountain Nichols moved to Clinton Co. in about 1820 with their parents and perhaps siblings. They came from Hopkinsville KY. I know quite a bit about them and their families but only guesses about their parents. Any information is welcome. 2) The family of Ozen B. Nichols. His first name is spelled about 23 different ways; on his grave he is called "O. B." I know much about his children. He was born in Gilbertsville, Otsego, NY in 1810, and moved to Clinton Co. when young. He later married a woman from Armagh, Indiana, PA named Sarah. I know some about his children. Information about his parents and his wife is welcome.

I have found one of her sons Harvey Rose listed on the 1850 Census living in Clinton County in District 68. It is possible that she came to live with him after 1850 and died at his home. If anyone knows what area District 68 is that would help narrow my search. Thanks, Sharon

Another "gem" from my private "lost and found" collection: Full page layout from unidentified magazine (probably The Leatherneck) published during WWI era. The photospread is entitled "Marines at Play" and reads ... During a rest period after the conquest of Iwo Jima, veterans of the Third Marine Division were treated to the first carnival to play a Pacific Island. The occasion was dedication of "Marvin House," a Red Cross club for enlisted men, named in honor of the late Second Lietenant Milton C. Marvin, illed in action. Seabees elped the Leathernexks build amusement booths. One of the pictures shows a Marine dressed as a female, standing on a makeshift diving board. The caption reads as follows: The bathing beauty about to go into a dive here is Private First Class Harold W. WARNECKE of Breese, Ill. Several of the Marines were dressed as females to supplement the limited number of women guests. If the good Private belongs to you, and you'd like a copy, let me know and I'll see if it can be reproduced without losing the already poor quality it has!
