Norma Jean Wehking (nee Eversgerd), 64, of Bethalto died Monday, May 15, 2000, at her home.

She was born June 8, 1935, in Germantown to Agnes (Haukap) and Henry J. Eversgerd. On May 28, 1957, she married Virgil Wehking at University City, Mo., and he survives in Bethalto.

Other survivors include her mother of Germantown; two sons, Loyd (Pam) Wehking of Bethalto and Glenn (Mary) Wehking of Edwardsville; four daughters, Valerie (James) Knight of Carlinville, Audrey (Michael) Wolff of Brighton, Nancy (Steve) Strohbeck of Fosterburg and Jill (Mark) Farace of St. Louis, Mo.; 16 grandchildren; four brothers, Jack Eversgerd, Thomas (Jan) Eversgerd and Daniel Eversgerd of Germantown and William (Toni) Eversgerd of East Meadow, N.Y.; and a sister, Shirley Eversgerd of Germantown.

She was preceded in death by her father; a daughter in infancy, Carla Wehking; a sister, Dolores Kohrman; and a brother, James Eversgerd.

Norma Jean was a member of Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church at Bethalto.

Visitation was held Wednesday evening at Elais-Smith Funeral Home in Bethalto. Father Kevin Sullivan will officiate at the 10 a.m. funeral service Thursday at Our Lady Queen of Peace Church. Interment will be in Rose Lawn Memory Gardens, Bethalto.
