CARLYLE REPORTS 2 DEATHS IN WEEK

Pioneers of Clinton Co. Pass Away; Both were Prominent Citizens.

Carlyle. Aug 23. – The death of two of the old citizens of Carlyle, sisters, occurred on the same day and only five hours apart.

Mrs. Malinda [Kahlert], aged 84 years, died at six o’clock p.m. last Friday at the home of her son, E. A. Kahlert, president of the Carlyle Commercial Club and one of the leading business men of the city. The deceased was the widow of A. Kahlert who conducted a bakery and confectionary here many years ago. The funeral occurred Sunday afternoon from the Presbyterian church.

Mrs. Elizabeth Kelling, the younger sister of the above decedent, aged 80 years, died at eleven o’clock p.m. last Friday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Laura Johnson, in St. Louis. She was the widow of the late Henry Kelling, of this city. The funeral took place this afternoon from the Presbyterian Church.
