RUDOLPH KRAMER DIES AFTER OPERATION

Rudolph Kramer, one of the best known and popular residents of Beckemeyer, died at the Deaconess hospital, East St. Louis, Tuesday morning at 9:30 o’clock. He entered the hospital last Saturday to have abcess in his stomach removed, and failed to recover after the operation. His constitution had been greatly weakened from a long illness due to stomach trouble.

“Rudie,” as his friends always called him, was born in Wheatfield township, July 16, 1875, and was, therefore, 43 years, 1 month and 25 days old. His early life was spent on his father’s farm. December 22, 1899, he was married to Miss Rosetta Beckemeyer, in Carlyle at the Evangelical Church, and the couple made their home on the old Christ Beckemeyer farm, south of Beckemeyer, for a while after which they moved to Beckemeyer. Mrs. Kramer died August 3rd, of the present year. Nine children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Kramer, seven of whom are still living the other two passing away in infancy. The names of those surviving their parents are Ines, Virgil, Gordan, Loretta, Floyd, Leonard, and James, the latter being born only a short time before his mother’s death. In addition to the children named he leaves to mourn his loss his father G. B. Kramer, who resided with him in Beckemeyer; a sister, Mrs. Anna Klein, of Sandoval; a half-sister, Mrs. Eliza Schneider, of Breese; two brothers, Bernhard Kramer of St. Rose and George Kramer of Greenville, and half-brother, William Mammel, who lives north of Frogtown,

The remains were forwarded from East St. Louis to his old home Tuesday evening. The funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Carlyle Evangelical church, Rev. Doelfield officiating. Internment was in the Carlyle cemetery.

The funeral services were very largely attended, by the numerous relations and many friends of the deceased.

In the death of Mr. Kramer, Beckemeyer and Clinton County loses one of the best citizens -- one who will be mourned by all classes.

We join all in extending our deepest sympathy to the bereaved in their most unfortunate loss.
