Isabelle Goewert passes away at her St. Louis home

Mrs. Isabelle Goewert, widow of the late Sylvester Goewert, former Breese residents, died suddenly at her home Friday afternoon at 1:30 of what is thought to have been a heart attack. She resided at 3327a Lawn Avenue in St. Louis.

Deceased was born in Breese January 10, 1918, daughter of Anton and Mary (Meyer) Voss, and received her education in St. Augustine School. She married Sylvester Goewert in St. Louis June 16, 1934. He died July 9, 1950. Her mother died April 27, 1970 and her father April 15, 1972.

Mr. and Mrs. Goewert lived in Breese and first six years of their married lives, moving to St. Louis in 1940. She was employed as supervisor of the switchboard in the Medical Exchange on Oakland Avenue, St. Louis; she did not go to her work Friday morning as she did not feel well, having a pain in her chest. She resided with her sister, Miss Hildegard Voss.

Besides her sister she leaves a daughter, Mrs. Marilyn Mennemeyer of New Albany, Ind., five grandchildren and three brothers, Alois and Adolph Voss of St. Louis and Anthony of Breese.

She was a member of American Legion Auxiliary Unit No. 267 in St. Louis and the Holy Innocent Church in St. Louis.

The funeral was held Monday afternoon from the Moss Funeral Home in Breese, services having begun in St. Augustine Church, Breese at one o'clock. Interment was in St. Dominic Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Norbert Timmermann, Roger Hefron, Ralph Kruse, Joe Nordmann, Dix Richter and Anthony Voss.
