HENRY SCHEERS, 72, DIES OF PARALYTIC STROKE FRIDAY
Aged Citizen Passes Away After Illness of Three Days; Was Former Marshal of Breese
Henry Scheers, formerly the marshal of this city, suffered a paralytic stroke last Tuesday which resulted in his death Friday morning at 1:15 o’clock. He was in fairly good health prior to the stroke and his death was a great shock to his relatives and friends.
Mr. Scheers was born in Hanover, Germany, in 1853 and moved to this country at the age of seventeen years. In 1882 he was married to Miss Kate Alberternst, who survives his departure. He served as marshal for Breese for 12 years and since that time he was employed as a miner in the East Mine.
Besides his wife the deceased is survived by one daughter, Mrs. John Von Alst of this city, and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held from St. Dominic’s Church Monday morning at 9 o’clock to the St. Dominic’s Cemetery, the Rev. Father Meifus officiating.
