The funeral services were held at the Evangelical church in this city Wednesday afternoon at one o’clock, Rev. Beier, pastor, officiating. The interment was in the city cemetery.
Mr. Kramer was well known in Clinton county. For almost fifty years he lived on a farm north of Frogtown. He had followed farming during his entire life. He at one time resided near what was the old Carlyle fair grounds northwest of this city, living here before he moved to north of Frogtown. After the death of his of his wife October 24, 1910, he lived with his son Rudolph at Beckemeyer. After the death of his son, September 5, 1918, he had been making his home with his daughter in Sandoval.
Mr. Kramer was born in Holland, Germany, August 25, 1835. Twenty years later or in 1855, he came to this country and a short time after arriving here settled in Clinton county. In 1860 he was married to Mrs. Mary E. Hammel. To the union was born four children, two of whom survive: George Kramer, who lives near Frogtown; and Mrs. Annie Klein of Sandoval; there are also two step children, William Hammel, who lives north of Frogtown and Mrs. Lizzie Schmeder of Breese; and 36 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.
Deceased was a hard working man during his younger days and saw many of the hardships suffered by the county’s pioneers after he settled here. He was a man who made scores of friends and was held in the highest esteem by all.
With the many friends of the bereaved we join in extending sympathy to them in their hours of deepest sorrow.
