Alan Kampwerth Dies in Tractor Mishap Tuesday

Alan George Kampwerth, 14 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Al B. Kampwerth of Route 3, Carlyle was killed around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 20 in a tractor accident. The accident occurred 3 ½ miles South of Bartelso in Santa Fe Township.

After he had left a field where silage was being cut, he preceded to cross a bridge pulling a load of silage behind a tractor. The bridge breaking loose from one bank caused the tractor and wagon to fold, pinning him on the tractor.

He died of a fractured skull and internal injuries.

Alan, a first year student at Mater Dei High School, Breese, was the son of Al B. and Dorothy M. Kinder Kampwerth. He was born in Breese, June 14, 1946.

Alan was a member of the Star 4-H Club in Bartelso.

Surviving besides his parents are three sisters, Marabeth, Mrs. Richard Petermeyer of Germantown, Postulant Virginia Jane Kampwerth of Donaldson, Ind., and Kathleen Ann Kampwerth, at home; and his grandmother, Mrs. Alvina Kinder of Beckemeyer.

Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony’s Church in Beckemeyer, Saturday, September 24 at 9 a.m. with interment in St. Anthony’s Cemetery. Rev. Julius Schoen will officiate.

Friends may call at the Frerker Funeral Home in Beckemeyer after 7 p.m. Thursday.
