Roland W. Plotts, 84, of Phoenix, Ariz., died Friday, January 9th, 2004.

He was born on December 28th, 1919, in Sandoval, the son of Roland and Pearl Gariepy Plotts, and they preceded him in death. He married Ensign Jean Stewart Owens on July 22nd, 1944, and she preceded him in death.

Surviving are two daughter, Barbara Mace of Peoria, Ariz., and Roberta Thickstum of El Segundo, Calif.; a son, David Plotts of El Segundo, Calif.; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Pauline Kueper of Carlyle and Lois Shields of Laytonville, Calif.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Verna Singleton of Lakewood, Wash., and Rita Jane Garrett of Jacksonville, Fla.

Mr. Plotts spent his early childhood and teenage years in Carlyle and graduated from Carlyle High School where he participated in sports and band. He attended Washington University in St. Louis in the College of Electrical Engineering when he was drafted into the army.

He retired from active duty with the United States Air Force, Luke, AFB, Ariz., after 28 years of service spent at many different Air Force bases in the United Stated and in Germany, Thailand and Japan.

He was a 57 year Mason affiliated with the Washington Lodge #55 of Nashville.

Interment with full military rites was in the National Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Arizona.
