Joseph H. Huene, 88, of Carlyle died Wednesday, Jan. 21st, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

He was born on April 6th, 1915, in Breese, the son of Peter and Bernadine Meier Huene, and they preceded him in death. On June 29th, 1935, in Waterloo, he married Emily L. Cameron, and she preceded him in death on Jan. 10th, 1990.

Surviving are a daughter, Sally Lawler of Carlyle; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Deadmond of St. Louis, Mo.

Mr. Huene was employed at the Moran Shoe Company, Wee Walker Shoe Company and Trimfoot Company. He was a foreman in the shipping department. He then retired after 48 years. He was a lifetime member of Knights of Columbus Council #1382 in Carlyle. He enjoyed woodworking, crafts, bowling and was a Cub’s fan.

He was also a member of St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, where his funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, Jan. 24th, at 11 a.m., with Fr. George Mauck officiating.

Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation was at Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle.
