Marjorie M. DeFrees, 80, of Carlyle died Monday, Feb. 2nd 2004, in the Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Greenville.

She was born on March 7th, 1923, in Logansport, Ind., the daughter of Preston S. and Mae McMillen Wiley. On June 12th, 1948, in South Bend, Ind., she married Robert E. DeFrees, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 27th, 2003.

Surviving are two sons, Alan and Mark DeFrees; two grandchildren, two step-granddaughters and a step-great-grandson; and a brother, Joseph Wiley.

Mrs. DeFrees graduated from Concord High School in Dunlap, Ind., in 1941, and South Bend College of Commerce in South Bend, Ind., in 1943, Mrs. DeFrees worked and lived in the South Bend area for several years with her family. The family moved many times before retiring in Carlyle.

She was a member of the Keyesport United Methodist Church in Keyesport, where a memorial service will be conducted on Sunday, Feb. 8th, at the 10:45 a.m. church service, with Rev. Doug Martin officiating.

Burial in South Bend, Ind., will be scheduled at a later date for Marjorie and Robert DeFrees.
