Cecilia ‘Cele’ Solis, 83, of Beckemeyer died Thursday, Jan. 29th, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

She was born on May 28th, 1920, in Bartelso, the daughter of William and Elizabeth Gausepohl Foppe, and they preceded her in death. In 1940 in Bartelso, she married Nicholas “Nick” Solis, and he preceded her in death on June 15th, 2002.

Surviving are a daughter, Helene Rudolph of Beckemeyer; a son, Jerry Solis of Beckemeyer; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Vera Smith, Juliana Grow and Lucy Joeckel; six brothers, Frank, Vincent, Aloys, Adolph, Albert and Rudolph Foppe, and a granddaughter.

Mrs. Solis had been employed as a drapery seamstress. She was past president of the Holthaus-Kampwerth American Legion Post 1227 Auxiliary in Beckemeyer and a member of the Catholic Fraternal Life.

She was also a member of St. Anthony Church in Beckemeyer, where a Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on Monday, Feb. 2nd, at 10 a.m., with Fr. Church Tuttle and Deacon Bob Lippert officiating.

Interment followed in St. Anthony Cemetery.

Visitation was at Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle.
