Dolores M. ‘Dot’ Goestenkors, 67, of Damiansville died Friday, Feb. 20th, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

She was born on March 21st, 1936, in Damiansville, the daughter of Albert ‘Bert’ and Mary Heimann Toennies, and they preceded her in death. On May 14th, 1957, in Damiansville, she married Charles ‘Chuck’ Goestenkors, and he survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Geri Varel of Damiansville; three sons, Cliff Goestenkors of Damiansville, Lenny Goestenkors of Lawrenceville, and Jim Goestenkors of St. Louis, Mo.; six grandchildren and two step-grandchildren; three brothers, Alfred, Albin “Bones” and Melvin Toennies, all of Damiansville, and a sister, Angela “Angie” Wobbe of Damiansville.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Toennies.

Mrs. Goestenkors was a retired secretary for Toennies Service Co. She loved to quilt, play cards, do crafts and tend to her flowers both at church and in her home. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren. She was a member of St. Damian Parish and Ladies Sodality and was a sacristan for the church and a faithful choir member.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Monday, Feb. 23rd, at 10 a.m. at St. Damian Church in Damiansville, with Msgr. Donald Eichenseer officiating.

Interment was in St. Damian Cemetery.

Visitation was at Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden.
