Marcella A. Bloemker, 86, of Breese died Thursday, Feb. 19th, 2004, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Mo.

She was born on August 24th, 1917, in Collinsville, the daughter of John and Louise Eisenhauer Wilkaitis, and they preceded her in death. On April 3rd, 1937, at St. John United Church of Christ in Breese, she married Edwin Bloemker, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 26th, 1990.

Surviving are four daughters, Diane Schwab of Washington, Mo., Mary Ellen Varble of Terre Haute, Ind., Joyce Downey of Springfield, and Laura Bloemker of Carlyle; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; a brother Norman Wilkaitis of Energy, and a sister, Anna Mae Stoll of O’Fallon.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, George Wilkaitis, and a sister, Clara Schmidt.

Mrs. Bloemker was a homemaker. She was a member of St. John United Church of Christ and Woman’s Guild in Breese, charter member of St. Joseph’s Hospital Auxiliary, Breese since 1968, Clinton County Homemaker’s Extension, Clinton County 4-H Leader, and Breese Women’s Club. She was an avid card player taking part in various card clubs.

Funeral services were conducted on Saturday, Feb. 21st, at 11 a.m. at St. John United Church of Christ in Breese, with Revs. Jeffrey Schwab and William Schwab officiating.

Interment followed in St. John Cemetery in Breese.

Moss Funeral Home in Breese handled the arrangements.
