Mary M. Gammon, 80
Mary M. Gammon, 80, of Carlyle died Friday, Oct. 22nd, 2004, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.
She was born Oct. 10th, 1924, in Wayne County, the daughter of Ulysses and Myrtle Monroe Feather, and they preceded her in death. On Dec. 15th, 1940, in St. Louis, she married Dwight O. Gammon, and he preceded her in death March 30th, 2000.
Surviving are three daughters, Sharon Gammon-Kossman of Carlyle, Judy Strotheide of Bartelso and Debra Brinkman of Trenton; eight grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by three sisters and eight brothers.
She came to this area from Fairfield in 1956. She was a supervisor at Murray Center for 24 years, retiring in 1988.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carlyle and the Order of the Eastern Star #715 in Sandoval. She earned as associate in arts degree from Kaskaskia College in 1974. She enjoyed cooking, traveling and being with her family.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 25th, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Carlyle, with Rev. Bill Chambers officiating.
Burial was in Carlyle Cemetery.
Visitation was at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle.
