Ida Klutho, 95

Ida Klutho, 95, of Carlyle died Monday, July 26th, 2004, at Carlyle Healthcare Center.

She was born in Pinkneyville on Feb. 21st, 1909, the daughter of Rueben and Martha Bigham Rees. On Nov. 3rd, 1944, in Centralia, she married Henry Klutho, and he preceded her in death Oct. 7th, 1974.

Surviving is a grandson and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jacqueline Tubbs; a grandson; and a sister, Dena Kovitch.

She was a beautician in Centralia in her early years. After her marriage, she moved to Carlyle. Her husband was the Clinton County sheriff and she cooked meals for the prisoners at the county jail.

She also assisted her husband in the Clinton County Treasurer’s office when he was county treasurer. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church and Knight’s of Columbus Auxiliary, both in Carlyle.

A Mass of Resurrection will be held Saturday, July 31st, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church in Carlyle, with Father George Mauck officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, July 30th, from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, July 31st, from 8 to 9:30 a.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle.
