Fred C. “Fritz” Wolters, 92

Fred C. “Fritz” Wolters, 92, of Aviston died Monday, Nov. 8th, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Breese.

He was born July 22nd, 1912, in Sugar Creek Township, the son of Herman and Caroline Kuhl Wolters, and they preceded him in death. On Oct. 29th, 1955, at St. Barbara Catholic Church in Batchtown, he married Cecilia McGee, and she survives in Aviston.

Surviving are two brothers, John Wolters of Aviston and Ralph Wolters of Albers; and four sisters, Cecilia Niemann and Josephine Gunn, both of St. Louis, Mary Louis Ratermann of Breese and Frieda Schomaker of New Baden.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Wolters; and three sisters, Kathryn Gress, Bertha Horstmann and Dorothy Richter.

He was a retired, self-employed truck driver. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church and Men’s Holy Name Society and Breese Knights of Columbus Council 2869.

A funeral mass was celebrated on Thursday, Nov. 11th at 10 a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church in Aviston, with Father Daniel Friedmann officiating.

Burial followed in St. Francis Cemetery in Aviston.

Visitation was at Moss Funeral Home in Breese.

The Breese Knights of Columbus prayed the rosary at 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
