William P. “Bill” Becker, 57

William P. “Bill” Becker, 57, of Centralia and formerly of Bartelso died Wednesday, Sept. 15th, 2004, at St. Louis University Hospital.

He was born March 17th, 1947, in Breese, the son of Henry and Cecilia Jansen Becker, and they preceded him in death. He married Mary Greene-Vaughan on Jan. 11th, 2003, at St. Clair Church in O’Fallon, and she survives in Centralia.

Surviving is a daughter, Melissa Poelker of Beckemeyer; a son, Troy Becker of Beckemeyer; five step-children, Bridget George of Safety Harbor, Fla., Brian Vaughan of Skokie, and Matthew Vaughan of Grafton, Mass., Craig Grawe of Keyesport and Brian Grawe of Beckemeyer; six step-grandchildren; five brothers, Raymond, Richard “Dick”, Herman and Donald “Diesel” Becker, all of Bartelso, and Albert Becker of Germantown; and six sisters, Florence Dierkes and Barbara Robke, both of Germantown, Lucille Kampwerth and Antoinette “Toni” Litzenburg, both of Carlyle, Mary Ann Rakers of Beckemeyer and Johanna Haar of Albers.

He was retired from Scott Air Force Base Transportation Division and an Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Bartelso American Legion Post 976, Catholic War Veterans 1780 and Bartelso Knights of Columbus 4745.

A funeral mass was held Monday, Sept, 20th, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church in Bartelso, with Father Henry Fischer officiating.

Burial was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis.

Visitation was at Moss Funeral Home in Germantown.
