Thomas R. Doll, 51
Thomas R. Doll, 51, of rural Pocahontas, died Sunday, Sept. 19th, 2004, at St. Louis University Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 29th, 1952, in Highland, the son of Don and Elizabeth Wasmuth Doll. He married Gene Clover on Aug. 11th, 1973, in Pocahontas, and she survives.
Surviving is his mother; three sons, Second Lt. Tim Doll of Ft. Lewis, Wash., Adam Doll of Greenville, and Jake Doll of Pocahontas; two daughters, Amy Piper of Champaign and Rachel Doll of Boston, Mass.; one grandchild; seven brothers Jerry Doll of Madison, Wis., John Doll of Champaign, Jim Doll of St. Louis, Mo., Joe and Dave Doll, both of Pocahontas, Don Doll of Greenville, and Jeff Doll of Troy; and five sisters, Donna Vincent of Nashota, Wis., Mary Burke of Huntington, Ind., Diane Bingham, Janice Barth and Jane Wilhite, all of Greenville.
He was preceded in death by his father.
He grew up on the family dairy farm and orchard south of Pocahontas. He attended Pocahontas School and graduated from Greenville High School in 1970. He also attended the University of Illinois. He served in the U.S. Army from 1972 to 1974.
He had worked at several agricultural jobs and for the last 20 years had worked for Gehrig’s StoreAg Business. He was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church where he had been involved in the religion education program and also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 11707.
He was active in local sports and had coached softball, baseball and soccer. He was also active in the Bond County Soccer Club. He was serving his second term on the Bond County Community Unit #2 School Board and was currently serving as president.
A funeral service was held Tuesday, Sept. 21st, at 11 a.m. at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, with Ralph Parthie O.F.M. officiating.
His body was donated to science.
Young Funeral Home in Greenville handled the arrangements.
