Myra M. Godell, 89

Myra M. Godell, 89, of Benton died Sunday, Aug. 22nd, 2004, at Severin Intermediate Care Home in Benton.

She was born Sept. 19th, 1914, in Fulton, Kan., the daughter of Wallace A. and Jessie Ringer Rainey, and they preceded her in death. She married Walter L. Godell on June 21st, 1963, at Divernon, and he preceded her in death Feb. 6th, 2000.

Surviving are two sons, Albert Babb, Jr. of Benton and David J. Babb of Indianapolis, Ind.; a step-son, David Godell of Valenda, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Carolyn Crouch of Greenville; 12 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lila M. Mahlandt and Mildred Buenemeyer, both of Carlyle; and a brother, Ralph Rainey of Carlyle.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and Floyd Rainey.

She was a homemaker and lived in Granite City for many years. She moved to Benton in 1997. She was a member of the Niedringhaus United Methodist Church in Granite City.

Funeral services were held today, Wednesday, Aug. 25th, at 11 a.m. at Zieren-Day Funeral Home in Carlyle.

Burial was in Yingst Cemetery.
