Lorine B. Hochuli, 86, of Highland died Tuesday, Aug. 17th, 2004, at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland.

She was born Dec. 29th, 1917, in Breese, the daughter of Anton Wobbe and Rose Vosholler Hochule, and they preceded her in death. On Jan. 28th, 1939, at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, she married Elmer L. Hochuli, and he survives in Highland.

Surviving are two daughters, Carol A. Hessenauer of Greenville and Mary Ellen Case of Highland; a son, Ronald L. Hochuli of Highland; nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; a sister, Marcella “Sally” Steiner of Highland; two brothers, Arnold Wobbe of Carlyle and Thomas Wobbe of Breese.

She was preceded in death by a son, James E. “Jim” Hochuli; a sister, Martha Strieker; and three brothers, Harold, Fremont and Burnell Wobbe.

She was a homemaker. She moved to Pierron at a young age and there she attended and graduated Immaculate Conception School. After graduation she started working at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Highland and was a nurse’s aide off-and-on from the mid ’30’s to mid ‘60’s. She and her husband ran the Seventh Street Parakeet Shop for 20 years.

Lorine enjoyed knitting, crocheting, sewing, quilting, baking and playing cards. She was a member of the same Pinochle club for 57 years, belonged to a birthday club for many years and quilted at her church.

She belonged to St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland and was an honorary life member of St. Anne Altar Sodality where she was the secretary for many years.

A funeral mass was held Friday, Aug. 20th, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul Catholic Church in Highland, with Rev. Father David L. Peters officiating.

Burial was in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Highland.

Visitation was at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland.
