Paul H. Short, 79, of Carlyle died Monday, Sept. 6th, 2004, at Willow Creek Nursing Home in Belleville.

He was born March 4th, 1925, in Vandalia, the son of Raymond and Ethel Morgan Short, and the preceded him in death. On Oct. 11, 1952, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle, he married Edna Nehrt, and she survives in Carlyle.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Don Short.

He worked at General Motors in St. Louis for 31 years, retiring in 1984. He was a veteran of the U. S. Army and served in WWII. He was a life-member of Goldsmith-Terry VFW Post 3525, Carlyle, and Ruf-Marchum American Legion Post 404, Carlyle. He and his wife Edna owned Short’s Music in Carlyle. He enjoyed playing the guitar.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept, 11th, at 10:30 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle, with Rev. Steve Sommerer officiating.

Burial will follow in Carlyle Cemetery with military honors.

Visitation will be Friday, Sept. 10th, from 4-8 p.m. at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle and on Saturday, Sept. 11th, from 9 a.m. until service time at the church.
