Leola A. Doeding, 92, of Steeleville died Wednesday, June 30th, 2004, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Belleville.

She was born Dec. 2nd, 1911, in Percy, the daughter of Henry and Amelia Bruns Lakeman, and they preceded her in death. On June 6th, 1937, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bremen, she married Henry W. Doeding, and he preceded her in death Feb. 27th, 1968.

Surviving are four sons, Wilbert Doeding of Steeleville, Henry Doeding, Jr. of Orange, Calif., Darrell Doeding of Carlyle, and Lloyd Rodewald of Sparta; a daughter, Marilyn Garther of Union, Mo.; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was a daughter, Mary Ellen Doeding; two sisters, Marie Reinhardt and Doris Lakeman; and one brother, Omer Lakeman.

She was a homemaker and retired from Gilster Mary-Lee Corporation in 1981. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Bremen, St. John’s LCW and AARP of Steelville.

Funeral services were held Saturday, July 3rd, at 2 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, with Rev. Edwin A. Reuter officiating.

Burial was in Paradise Cemetery in Steelville.

Visitation was at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Steelville.
