Mildred E. Hill, 75
Mildred E. Hill, 85, of Greenville died Tuesday, June 15th, 2004, at Utlaut Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
She was born Dec. 28th, 1918, near Keyesport, the daughter of Arch Allen and Mary Ellen Woods McClaren, and they preceded her in death. On Nov. 2nd, 1946, in Lincoln, she married Oliver C. Hill, Jr., and he survives.
Also surviving are a son, Gary Hill of Collinsville; a daughter, Linda J. Plant of Greenville; a sister, Lillie I. Marcoot of Smithboro; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Norma Langham and Dolores Edwards; and a brother, Edward McClaren.
She was born and raised on the McClaren farm near Keyesport. She attended Duncan school in Keyesport and graduated from Carlyle High School. She worked for the Secretary of State Drivers License in Springfield and the Busy Bee Café. She also worked in the Bond County Court House.
From 1964-1994, she worked at the Greenville Elementary School in food service. She was a member of First Christian Church and received God’s Servant of the Year award. She was also a member of Loyal U&I Sunday School class and chaired the kitchen committee. She taught Sunday school and was active in Bond Christian Service Camp.
A funeral service was Friday, June 18th, at 11 a.m. at Donnell-Wiegand Funeral Home in Greenville, with Darryl Bolen officiating.
Burial was in Mt. Auburn Cemetery.
