Mrs. Caroline Katherine Wolters, 75, lifelong resident of Aviston, died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland Saturday at 5pm. Death was due to infirmities of old age. She had been ill for about three years. She was bon on March 7, 1887, the daughter of Clemens and Katherine (Brinker) Kuhl. She attended St. Francis School in Aviston and on Nov. 26, 1907 she was married to Herman Wolters. She is survived by her husband, seven daughters, Mrs. Catherine Gress of Beaver Prairie, Mrs. Cecelia Niemann and Mrs. Josephine Gunn of St. Louis, Mrs. Mary Ratermann of Carlyle, Mrs. Dorothy Richter of Aviston, and Mrs. Frieda Schumacker of New Baden; four sons, Fred, John, Joe and Ralph, all of Aviston. Besides here eleven children, she is survived by 35 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Anna Thole and Mrs. Frank Wolters both of Aviston. Two children preceded her in death, as well as one brother. Mrs. Wolters belonged to St. Francis Church, St. Ann Christian Mothers Sodality and Catholic Knights and Ladies of Illinois. Funeral services were held in St. Francis Church Tuesday at 9 am, with Father Cletus Cunningham officiating, assisted in the Mass by Fathers Urban Kuhl and William Kuhl. Burial was in St. Francis Cemetery. Pallbearers were Frank Wolters, Jr., Charles Frohn, Fred Thole, James Wolters, John Raterman, and George Gress. The body lay in state at the Brefeld Funeral Home until time of service.
