Retired Aviston Butcher Dies

Henry Kuhl, age 77 years, died at St. Joseph Hospital here Thursday at 8:00 pm after a lingering illness. Mr. Kuhl was born at Aviston Aug. 17, 1875, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clemens Kuhl. He lived in Aviston his entire life and had conducted a meat market, retiring in 1939. He was married to Miss Louisa Strake Jan. 11, 1898, in St. Dominic Church here. His wife died Sept. 17, 1950. He leaves the following children: Mrs. Henry Albersternst of Aviston, Frank Kuhl of Breese, George Kuhl of St. Louis, Anton Kuhl of Aviston, Mrs. Frank Renschen of Aviston, Edward of Mascoutah, Mrs. Arthur Wuest and Otto of Trenton, Mrs. Paul Molitor of Aviston and Rev. Urban Kuhl of Belleville; he also leaves 34 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and three sisters, Mrs. Anna Thole, Mrs. Herman Wolters, and Mrs. Frank Wolters. He was a member of St. Francis Church at Aviston and of St. Francis Men's Sodality. The funeral under the direction of Fred G. Brefeld, was held Monday with a solemn requiem mass read in St. Francis Church, with Rev. Urban Kuhl as celebrant, Reb. Cletus Hentschel as deacon, and Rev. Fred Renschen as sub deacon. Rt. Rev. Msgr George Lohmann was master of ceremonies and Rev. Ed Schumacher delivered the sermon. Interment was in St. Francis Cemetery. The pallbearers were: Elmer, George, James, Donald, Francis, Robert and Dennis Kuhl and Laurell Wuest.
