Frank KUES Dead:
Frank Kues, a well-known young man of Breese, who had been employed for several months at the Kuehne Furniture Factory in this city, died at the Breese Hospital last Thursday afternoon from injuries he received on Tuesday night last week during a fight with Raymond STRAKE, oldest son of Mr. And Mrs. Anton Strake of Breese. The young men were in attendance at a euchre given by the Firemen of Breese at St. Augustine Hall, and were on the outside of the hall where they had some trouble and the two began fighting, when suddenly a long knife blade was plunged into young Kues neck and as he was falling the knife blade was thrust in his chest, penetrating the lung. Kues was immediately taken to the hospital where his wounds were pronounced serious. Young Strake was placed under arrest and taken to the county jail at Carlyle, where he will be held pending the action of the next grand jury. Frank was never known to be in an [any] serious trouble and was considered a kind and peaceable young man. He had been employed Hoffman and Partington's store in that city and always endeavored to please his customers and employers. The funeral of young Kues took place Monday morning. His parents have the sympathy of the entire community in the sudden loss of their son.
