KUES, Richard G

Richard G. KUES, 81, of New Baden, Ill., born March 12, 1916, in Aviston, Ill., died Monday, Jan. 5, 1998, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Belleville, Ill.

Mr. Kues was a retired teamster. He also retired form New Baden Wilbert Vault Co. in 1981. He was a member of St. George Parish and Holy Name Society; and a the Teamsters Local 50 of Belleville, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Margaret nee ZURLIENE, Kues; a son, Dennis J. Kues; a grandson, Clint Kues; two brothers, Theodore "Dick" Kues and Oscar Kues; and three sisters, Theresa STEPHENS, Rita L. NETEMEYER and Helen BUSSEN.

Surviving are his wife, Elvira "Sis," nee SPAETH, Kues, whom he married April 17, 1940, in New Baden, Ill.; his children, Bob (Linda) Kues of Bentonville, Ark., Gary (JoAnn) Kues of Highland, Ill., Larry (Karen) Kues of Bartelso, Ill., and Al (Mary) Kues of New Baden, Ill.; six grandchildren, Ted, Brett, Chad, Eric, Corey and Clayton Kues; and four sisters, Marcella HAUKAP of Aviston, Ill., Frances (Bob) SCHALLER of St. Louis, Mo., Catherine (Bill) BUSSEN of St. Louis, Mo., and Genevieve MARKUS of Aviston, Ill.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 7, 1998, at St. George Church, New Baden, Ill., with the Rev. Thomas Barrett officiating. Burial will be in Resurrection Cemetery, New Baden, Ill.

Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 6, 1998, and from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at Hempen Funeral Home, New Baden, Ill.
