John KUES Rites Thursday at Aviston

John Kues, life long resident of Aviston, died Sunday Dec 14 at 5:40 p.m. at St. Joseph Hospital Highland, where he had been a patient only one day.

Mr. Kues was born in Aviston on May 11, 1884, a son of the late Gerhart [Gerhard] and Wilhelmina TOEBENOTKE Kues. He was married on April 12 1910 to Margaret ZURLIENE in St. Francis Church Aviston. She preceded him in death. He engaged in farming for many years and recently served as contract mail messenger in Aviston. Surviving are ten children: Genevieve MARKUS - Aviston; Oscar Kues - San Antonio; Catherine BUSSEN - St. Louis; Richard Kues - New Baden; Helen Bussen - Frankfort, Germany; Marcella HAUKAP - Aviston; Rita NETEMEYER - Albers; Frances SCHALLER - St. Louis; Theodore "Dick" Kues of Aviston and Theresa Kues of Aviston. Also one brother, Henry Kues - Breese, two sisters: Mary SCHULTE of Aviston and Martha LAMPE of East St. Louis and 34 grandchildren. Funeral 9 a.m. Thursday at St. Francis with Rev. C. J. CUNNINGHAM officiating. Interment St. Francis Cemetery. He was a member of St. Francis Men's Sodality and of Catholic Knights and Ladies of IL.
