Aviston Resident Dies at Breese
Miss Anna KUES, daughter of the late Mr. & Mrs. Gerhard Kues, age 70 years, died suddenly at the home of Mr. & Mrs. Tony MACKE and family at Breese Friday noon. The deceased was in failing health for several years but her death was a shock to all who knew her. Mrs. Macke was a niece of the deceased and Miss Kues was a frequent visitor at the Macke home. Her childhood was spent here and later she went to St. Louis where she became employed and lived for many years. Several years ago she moved here to her home where she was liked by all who knew her. Quite a few little tots loved to visit at her home where they were always welcome. Miss Kues was a sincere Catholic and attended services whenever she was able. She was a true friend and a kind and sympathetic neighbor. The remains were taken to her home Sunday afternoon where relatives and friends paid their last respects to the deceased. The funeral was held from her late home to the St. Francis Catholic Church on Monday morning at 9:00 o'clock. Rev. LOHMAN read a requiem high mass for the repose of the deceased's soul. Burial was in the parish cemetery. Pallbearers were neighbors of the deceased. The deceased is survived by one brother, George Kues of Breese, three step-brothers, John Kues of near here [(probably Aviston?)] Henry Kues of near Breese and Otto Kues of Trenton and two step-sisters, Mary, Mrs. Frank SCHULTE of here and Martha, Mrs. Leo LAMPE of East St. Louis, and one step-brother, Fred EILERMANN of St. Louis, several nieces and nephews. We extend our sympathy to the bereaved. May God grant her eternal rest. The deceased is the step-daughter of Mrs. Gerhard Kues of here.
