Zenas H. TAYLOR Dies Thursday of Last Week
Zenas Henson Taylor ,aged, 68 years, 8 months and 6 days ,died at the home of his daughter and son in law, Mr and Mrs. Roy CROCKER ,in Carlyle, Thursday afternoon September 12 about 2:50 o¹clock. He was the son of the late John and Mary HANNENBERGER Taylor.
Deceased was born in Washington County in Covington January 6,1872. He attended school near his home and after the death of his parents went to the home of his sister to live. He lived there until July 16,1904 ,when he untied in marriage with Miss Ora STEIN of near Hoyleton. To them was born one daughter, Gladys, the present Mrs. Roy Crocker. The Taylor's lived for a short while at Okaville and in January of 1908 they moved to Carlyle where they have lived since. Deceased worked for a short time in the employ of a local livery and and then for the Ohio Oil Company. An accident caused him to seek less strenuous employment. He managed a filling station soon after and in that capacity will be best remembered. Failing health caused him to retire permanently.
He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church in this city and died in that faith.
Surviving besides his faithful wife and daughter are two grandchildren, Beryl and Ned Crocker, Carlyle, a sister Mrs. Emma HOELSCHER, Wood River and aged aunt Mrs. Rilla HANNENBERGER of Fillmore, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends both in the surrounding community and the neighborhood surrounding his old home. He was always pleased to renew old acquaintances and look forward with pleasure each year to the time when could go hunting in the old neighborhood he loved as a boy. Mr. Taylor had been in poor health for nearly three years and for the last eight months had been unable to leave his bed. As the end came he quietly slipped to the Voice from out beyond, "Come Unto Me , Ye Who Are Weary and Are Heavy Laden and I will Give You Rest"
Funeral Services were held Monday afternoon September 16, at the Frerker Funeral Home with Rev. WEBSTER Methodist minister officiating. Mrs. Hattie KAHLERT sang a solo accompanied at the piano by Mrs. F. O. PROUT. Burial was in the Carlyle Cemetery. Pallbearers were : Henry HOEHLSCHER, Sr., Denver HARBKE, Orin Stein, Harlan Stein, James Taylor and Loraine BACKS.
