The funeral service for Lela M. Keister of Shattuc was conducted today, Wednesday, April 2nd, 2003, at 11 a.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Sandoval, with Rev. Harold Quick officiating.
Mrs. Keister, a lifelong resident of Clinton county, died on Saturday, March 29th, 2003, at Carlyle Healthcare Center, at the age of 90.
She was born on March 2nd, 1913, in Clinton county, the daughter of Albert Louis and Lura Mae Orrell Quick. On January 24th, 1942, in St. Charles, Mo., she married Lewis W. Keister, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 12th, 1994.
Survivors include a son, Larry Keister of Springfield; two daughters, Diane Adams of Centralia and Pat Sankey of Highland, Mich.; nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Burl Quick of Shattuc.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale Quick and Harold Roffmann.
Mrs. Keister was a school teacher, teaching at the Sunny Side School in rural Shattuc and second grade at Carlyle Grade School for many years, retiring in 1972.
She was a member of the Shattuc United Methodist Church and a former member of several card clubs and the Sandoval Quilters Group. She was a graduate of Southern Illinois University at Carbondale.
