Fred D. Meier of Carlyle Dies

Fred D. Meier, 76, a Carlyle resident most of his life, died Wednesday night in St. Joseph's Hospital Breese following an apparent stroke .

A native of Breese, he was the son of Theodore and Mary (DRENCKPOHL) MEIER and a member of St. Mary's Church Carlyle and it's Holy Name Society.

He first married on October 20, 1909 Fanny ALLEN, who died in 1931. He later married Mamie COOK, who survives.

Also surviving are daughters, Mrs. Adelpha SPEISER, Boulder; Mrs. Ledora TAYLOR, Centralia; Mrs. Bernadine HUEGEN, and Mrs. Mary BERGER, Carpentersville; stepson, Carl COOK, Carlyle; a brother Aloys Meier of Carlyle; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's with Rev. Victor Sulkowski officiating. Burial will in St. Mary's Cemetery. The Rosary will be recited Friday at 8 p.m. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Friday.
