James H. TAYLOR, 69, dies at son's home near Albers, Sunday.

Well Known Farmer Suffered Seven Months from Cancer.

Funeral Services for James H. Taylor retired farmer well known in Carlyle and vicinity and in his native Washington County, was held from the Messiah Lutheran Church in Carlyle, Wednesday afternoon to the Carlyle Cemetery. Officiating at the rites, which commenced at 2 o'clock was Rev. Henry E. Dodderer pastor of the Messiah congregation.

Mr. Taylor, brother of Zenis Taylor, Carlyle Shell filling station operator, passed away at the home of a son, James Taylor Jr., three and one half miles southeast of Albers, at 9:50 o'clock Sunday night. Death was due to face cancer, which had incapacitated him for seven months. He was 69 years, seven months and nine days.

Mr. Taylor, several months ago, entered Jewish Hospital in St. Louis for treatment. An operation failed to improve his fast growing serious condition. Returned to his son's home, he was given the closest and most loving care by his sons and their families but death was inevitable. His remains lay in state at Zieren Funeral Home until funeral time.

Mr. Taylor was born on a farm southeast of Covington in Washington county, September 23, 1869. He was one of four sons among the six children of the late John A. and Mary E. (HANNENBERGER) Taylor, who were natives and among the early citizens of Washington County.

He was united in marriage Feb. 11,1900 (should have been 22) to Miss Edith M. STEIN, a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Stein, at their home near Hoyelton. Four children were born to this marriage of which three survive.

His entire life was spent as a farmer. He and his family removed to this county in 1906, locating first in Carlyle and later moved to the David Sharp farm near Little York school southeast of Carlyle.

Mr. Taylor passed away Mar 31, 1915. During the past few years Mr. Taylor has made his home with his sons and for the past 12 months had been living with family of James Taylor Jr. near Albers.

Surviving to mourn his loss are three sons, William, Lawzenis and James Taylor Jr., all living near Albers; one brother Zenis, Carlyle; one sister, Emma, Mrs. Henry HOELSCHER, of Wood River and 8 grandchildren. One daughter, Evelyn, and a grandchild proceeded Mr. Taylor in death.

Mr. Taylor enjoyed the respect of a large circle of friends . He will be missed by many people. We join the community in mourning his loss and in the extending sincere sympathy to his bereaved.
