SMITH, Robert F

Carlyle resident Robert F. Smith died at St. Mary's-Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia on Sunday, June 4th, 2000. He was 83 years old.

A son of Joseph and Della Moore Gobble-Smith-Carver, he was born in lrishtown township on Feb. 7th, 1917. On July 29th, 1939, in St. Louis, he married Lela Parson. She died Dec. 7th, 1988.

One son, Franklin Smith of Carlyle and two grandsons, survive.

A son, Robert Smith, five sisters and two brothers, preceded him in death.

Mr. Smith had been employed by Carlyle Drilling Company, Alton Boxboard in Carlyle and as a carpenter with Mid-West Farm Structure.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday) at 1 p.m. at the Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle. Rev. Steve Goodin officiated with burial in Carlyle cemetery.
