ROMMELMANN, Harold

Life-long Ferrin resident Harold Rommelmann died at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Belleville on Friday, April 26th, 2002, at the age of 84 years.

Born in Ferrin on March 27th, 1918, he was a son of William and Bertha Knolhoff Rommelmann. On May 9th, 1943, in Ferrin, he married Vera Stein, and she survives.

Additional survivors include one son, David Rommelmann of Evergreen, Colo.; two daughters, Mrs. Arlene Simonin of Naperville and Mrs. Donna Swetlishnoff of Parker, Colo.; seven grandchildren and one brother, Clarence Rommelmann of Ferrin.

Preceding him in death were a son, Gary, in infancy and one brother, Elbert "Chub" Rommelmann.

Mr. Rommelmann and his brothers owned and operated William Rommelmann and Sons International Harvester dealership in Ferrin until 10 years ago. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ferrin, where he rang the church bell for most of his 59 years of marriage, assisted with custodial duties and served in almost all offices within the church and organization.

He also was a member of the Ferrin Men's Club, Silver Heirs, Aid Association for Lutherans, Clinton County Farm Bureau and served on the Clinton County East Water District board. He had also been a member of the Huey-Ferrin- Boulder Fire Department for 25 years and for the past 10 years served on its board.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 30th, at Bethlehem Lutheran. Rev. Mitchel Schuessler officiated with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation was at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle.
