Ray Schmitt, 67

Trenton resident Raymond "Ray" Schmitt, 67, died at his home on Monday, Feb. 9th, 1998.

A son of George and Elizabeth Drees Schmitt, he was born in St. Clair county on June 20th, 1930. On March 5th, 1957, in Trenton, he married Elsie Holtmann, and she survives.

Additional survivors include one son, Philip Schmitt of Trenton; one daughter, Mrs. Barbara Ammann of Highland; four grandchildren; two brothers, George "Butch" Schmitt of Trenton and Herbert Schmitt of Summerfield; and one sister, Mrs. Marie Bonnel of

St. Genevieve, Mo. He was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Schmitt, and sister, Marcella Schildknecht.

A retired employee of Trenton Coop., Mr. Schmitt was a member of St. Mary's Church in Trenton, Trenton VFW, and Teamsters Local 50 of Belleville.

Rev. Vincent Haselhorst will officiate at services at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 12th, at St. Mary's. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation is at the Moss Funeral Home in Trenton from 4 to 9 p.m. today (Wednesday) and from 8 a.m. to 10:15 a.m. Thursday.
