Anthony Rakers, 81
Life-long Aviston resident Anthony A. "Tony" Rakers died at St. Joseph's Hospital in Highland on April 28th, 1999, at the age of 81
years.
Born in Aviston on Sept. 20th, 1917, he was a son of Bernard and Gertrude Hellmann Rakers, Sr. On April 22nd, 1941, in Aviston, he married Leona F. Voss, and she survives.
In addition to his widow, survivors include five sons, Jerome and Howard Rakers of Breese, Donald Rakers of Aviston, Walter "Peepers" and Anthony Rakers of Trenton; two daughters, Mrs. Mary O'Brien of Aviston and Mrs. Margie Heinzmann of Breese; 23
grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two brothers, James and Charles Rakers of Aviston and six sisters, Mrs. Annie Kalmer of Trenton,; Mrs. Rita Kalmer of Damiansville. Mrs. Mary "Sally" Haselhorst of Breese, Mrs. Delores Langenhorst of Beaver Prairie, Mrs. Johanna Heimann of Fairview Heights and Mrs. Julie Toennies of New Baden.
Two brothers, Aloyisius and Bernard Rakers, preceded him in death.
Mr. Rakers had owned and operated Rakers Truck Service for 27 years and also was a farmer. He was a member of Midwest Trucking Assoc., and Clinton County Farm Bureau.
Rev. Dan Friedman and Rev. Ted Bauman officiated at services held at 11 a.m.
