Edward Osborne, 79

New Baden resident Edward L. "Ed" Osborne died at his home on Thursday, Nov. 26th. 1998. He was 79 years old.

A son of Frank and Ida Harper Osborne, he was born in East St. Louis on May 15th, 1919. On Dec. 20th, 1980, in New Baden, he married Carol Goodwin Shuberg and she survives. He was previously married to Mary Donovan and she survives in New Baden. Also surviving are three sons, James Osborne of New Baden, Robert Osborne of Montana and Michael Osborne of Belleville; two daughters, Mrs. Diane Ripperda of St. Louis and Patricia Osborne of Belleville; four step-children, David Shuberg, Thomas Shuberg, Linda Woolever and Nancy Lanes, all of Houston; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren and three sisters, Dolroes McClellan of Florida, Patricia Fletcher of Springfield, Mo, and Eileen Entemann of Chatham.

Mr. Osborne was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Trenton Sportsman's Club.

Services were held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30th, at Zion United Church of Christ in New Baden with Rev. Gretchen Sterrett officiating. Burial was in Mt. Carmel cemetery in Belleville.

The Hempen Funeral Home in New Baden was in charge of arrangements.
