Sophia Nettles, 103

Mrs. Sophia F. Nettles of Centralia died at Centralia Manor on Thursday, Sept. 3rd, 1998. She was 103 years old.

Born in Clinton county on Jan. 13th, 1895, Mrs. Nettles was a daughter of Louis C. and Mary Aldag Hansen. In Dec., 1913, in Ferrin, she married Walter Nettles. He died in 1953.

Survivors include one son, Orville Nettles of Mattoon; three daughters, Mrs. Wilma Monken of Hoffman, Mrs. Bernice Schnitzmeyer of Okmulgee, Okla., and Mrs. Marcella Dodillet of Mt. Vernon; 11 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 24 great-great-grandchiIdren and one brother, Louis Hansen of Springfield, Mo. She was preceded in death by one son, Walter Monken and two infant sons; two grandsons, Wayne Monken and Randy Nettles and one sister and one brother.

Rev. Howard Self officiated at services held at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 7th, at Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia. Burial followed in Hillcrest Memorial Park in Centralia.
