Anthony Hollenkamp, 81

A Mass of Resurrection for Carlyle resident Anthony Hollenkamp will be held at St. Mary's Church in Carlyle at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 20th. Rev. George Mauck and Rev. Chuck Tuttle will officiate with burial following in the church cemetery.

Mr. Hollenkamp died at his home today (Wednesday). He was 81 years old.

Born in Beckemeyer on March 21st, 1917, he was a son of John and Minnie Wilken Hollenkamp Sr. On July 5th, 1944, he married Ellen Stein. She died in l985. On Nov. 26th, 1988, he married Lorene Aydt, and she survives.

Other survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Misiewicz of Lenexa, Kans.; two grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Lucille Waeltz of Mascoutah and one brother, Henry Hollenkamp of Carlyle. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Hollenkamp.

Mr. Hollenkamp served in the U.S. Army in World War II. In 1974 he retired as assistant postmaster in the Carlyle post office after 37 years in the postal service. He was a member and past grand knight of Carlyle Knights of Columbus, past faithful navigator of Bishop Althoff Assembly of Fourth Degree Knights and former parish council member, lector and lay eucharistic minister for St. Mary's. Also, a member of Carlyle American Legion, former member of Mater Dei Father and Friends Club and Tuesday Night Men's Bowling League at Ten Pin Bowl.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 19th and from 8 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Zieren Day Funeral Home in Carlyle.
