Suicide. Bernard Rause, a citizen of Breese, whose farm adjoins the town, committed suicide last Sunday forenoon, by hanging himself to a tree in his field. That he was laboring under great depression on account of money matters, and was in the habit of drinking considerable, are supposed to be the causes of his committing the act. He went to the church Sunday morning but left before services were over for his house. He left a note on the table informing his wife that she would find his body under a certain cottonwood tree. He then took his double-barreled shotgun charged both barrels with buckshot, and repaired to the spot. Attaching a string in some manner to the triggers, he snapped both barrels, but the gun did not go off. He then procured a rope and hung himself to a branch of the tree. This manner of his committing the deed is guessed from there surroundings of the body when found.
