Died of lung fever, on the 4th inst., at the residence of his father in Upper Alton, John Henry Laird, second son of Rev. Francis H. L. and Mrs. Sarah M. Laird. He received a wound from which he never recovered, in the battle of Corinth, Miss., a minnie ball entered his left shoulder, and was extracted from his right. He faithfully served his country more than four years, and was honorably discharged. He and his two soldier brothers laid down their lives to restore the Union.
