Arthur Klostermann, 87

Retired farmer Arthur A. Klostermann died at his home in Breese on Wednesday, Jan. 1st, 1997. He was 87 years old.

A son of Frank and Catherine Poettker Klostermann, he was born on Jan. 30th, 1909, in St. Rose. On Oct. 27th, 1937, in St. Rose, he married Regina Rehkemper, and she survives.

Additional survivors include 10 daughters, Sister Bernice Klostermann, ASC of Ruma, Mrs. Henrietta "Etta" Kampwerth of Beckemeyer, Mrs. Mary Schubert of Nashville, Ms. Rita Grapperhaus of Florissant, Mo., Mrs. Agnes Huelsmann of St. Rose, Mrs. Johanna Buck of Maryville, Mrs. Angela Johnson of Germantown, Mrs. Jane Jansen of Breese, Ms. Diane Klostermann and Mrs. Anita Kruep, all of Breese three sons, Norbert and Linus Klostermann of Breese and Clarence Klostermann of New Baden; 35 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Arnold Klostermann of Highland; and two sisters, Ms. Loretta Klostermann and Mrs, Rose Mary Wilke, both of St. Rose.

Mr. Klostermann was preceded in death by a daughter, Dorothy Voss; two grandchildren, Donald Schubert and Stephen Grapperhaus; one great-grandchild, Andraia Huelsmann; five brothers, Henry, Joseph, Bernard, Emil, and Cornelius Klostermann; and two sisters, Mrs. Leona Weindel and Mrs. Marcella Holtgrave.

In addition to farming, Mr. Klostermann had also been a custodian at Mater Dei high school. He was a member of Clinton County Farm Bureau.

He was also a member of St. Dominic's Church in Breese where his funeral was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4th. Rev. Patrick Peter officiated with burial in the church cemetery.

Visitation was at the Moss Funeral Home in Breese.
