Fred Rakers, 89

The funeral of retired Aviston farmer Fred J. Rakers was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 12th, at St. Francis Church in Aviston. Rev. Dan Friedman and Rev. Steve Witte officiated with burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Rakers died at Countryside Manor Nursing Home in Aviston on July 9th, 1997, at the age of 89 years.

Born in Breese on Nov. 11th, 1907, Mr. Rakers was a son of Albert and Josephine Stoff Rakers. He married Gertrude Grapperhaus in Highland on May 2nd, 1933. She died Sept. 27th, 1979.

Three sons, Vernon and David Rakers of Highland and Fred G. Rakers of Aviston; 11 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren survive.

Visitation was at the Brefeld Funeral Home in Aviston.
