Elmer F Von Hatten

Elmer F Von Hatten, 86, of rural Carlyle died Tuesday, December 18, 2007, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville.
He was born in St. Rose, on November 1, 1921, the son of Ben and Louisa (Woltering) Von Hatten. He married Margaret Schaefer at St. Teresa's Church in Marydale on August 16, 1949, and she survives.
In addition to his wife, he is also survived by two daughters, Mary Beth Mezo and husband Tony of Mt. Vernon and Kathleen Ann Jones and husband Steve of Herrin; three sons, John Thomas Von Hatten and wife Eileen Waters of Black Jack, Mo., Richard James Von Hatten
of Knoxville, Tenn. And Mark Anthony Von Hatten and wife Anna of Fairview Heights; nine grandchildren, Jessica Von Hatten, Christie Von Hatten, Grace Von Hatten, Emily Von Hatten, Michael Jones, Rose Von Hatten, Mary Jones, Sophie Von Hatten and Tony Haselroth; two sisters, Bernice Rueter and husband Orville of Carlyle and Marcella Grapperhaus and husband Bernard of Beckemeyer; and one brother, Bernard Von Hatten and wife Alice of Carlyle.
Mr. Von Hatten was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Mary Ann Borgelt; and three brothers; Wilbert Von Hatten, Adolph Von Hatten and Urban Von Hatten.
Before his retirement, he was a farmer and a meat cutter. Elmer served in the Army Air Corps during WW II. He was a member of St. Teresa's Church in Marydale and served many years as a trustee for St. Teresa's Church and Wheatfield Township.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Friday, December 21, at 10 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church in Marydale with Fr. Ken Schaefer officiating.
Burial followed in St. Mary Cemetery in Carlyle.
Frerker Funeral Home in Carlyle served the family.
